Career Exploration & Transition

My experience in career exploration and transition draws from my own journey as well as from my training. Returning to school in my mid-40’s to undertake a total career change has given me a personal understanding of both the exciting potential and the real fears a big change can create.

I have developed a detailed process for discovering the key elements of each client’s potential successful career plan. We look at Skills and Values, Interests and Personality, Strengths and Work Environment.

I utilize some well-known assessment tools such as the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator ©  and SkillScan as well as recognized careers theories including: John Kumboltz’s Planned Happenstance Theory and John Holland’s Theory of Career Choice

Personal Branding -

How do I talk about myself?

After identifying a plan of action, there’s the challenge of explaining your plan to others. Presenting yourself effectively and strategically through your Resume, LinkedIn profile and developing an authentic and clear narrative is essential.

Most of us do not know how to describe what we are good at despite knowing that we are good at lots of things! I work to develop concrete language and targeted messaging to make your attributes and skills  understandable to others.

And in building these materials, my clients experience a boost in confidence and gain the necessary practice for networking and interviewing.

Job Search

Sending out resumes to job board postings and not hearing back? Research shows that upwards of 80% of jobs are landed through who you know.

I work with my clients to create a targeted job search plan with supporting resume, LinkedIn profile, interview preparation and networking strategy so they can get in front of influencers and find the company and career that is a good fit.
